Join Master Gardener Volunteer Eugenia Beecher to learn how to buy and
grow plants that you can enjoy for years as healthy houseplants. Learn
the best ways to pot and re-pot your houseplants, as well as how to
avoid over/underwatering and keeping your plants
clean. Houseplants are a great way to improve the environment of your
home and to enjoy the pleasures of gardening year-round. Eugenia will
provide ideas for which types of plants grow best indoors to ensure that
your houseplants thrive.
Eugenia is a graduate of the Dane County UW-Extension Master Gardener Volunteer program which trains community volunteers in a broad range of horticultural subjects so they can bring this knowledge to the public. Eugenia is not native to WI, but has adjusted to gardening from the
east coast, the southern states, and in Ohio before moving to WI. It
has been a learning curve as the weather is colder and more
unpredictable , even more so now that we are in the "climate
change" in the weather patterns.
Eugenia has been a Master Gardener in WI for 8 years and in Ohio for 5 years before that.
As part of the volunteer commitment she works at markets, on the phone line, and as a speaker with the Speakers Program. She also works with children in a community garden/year round
classroom program for children at risk on the South side of Madison.
